Fashion Director Karen Binns analyses the Autumn/Winter 2020 collections from London Fashion Week

THIS IS THE MOMENT OF OUR LIFE… London Fashion Week gave us life this season and the designers turned up their game 200 percent. It was electrified to such a level that Milan and New York must now pay full attention. They have ticked all the boxes in design, luxury, authentic ideas and sellable aesthetics. To be honest, I was quite blown away and so was everyone else. This is an edit of my favourite collections that I feel carried the torch for the UK after the horrible beginning of Brexit. They will truly hold our space on the global map of fashion.

CHRISTOPHER KANE

The Single Life .... Yes ..... Christopher, he murdered it this season. This is the sexiest I’ve seen of all of his collections ... no, not any Versace moments involved but perfect for the women who go from the art gallery opening straight to their dinner date. He really came through with a slightly new girl— a sexier intellectual vibe which brings in a larger commercial customer without loosing his depth in design. You Go Chris!

RICHARD QUINN

LIFE IN A BALLROOM… In spectacular fashion, Richard manages to keep our eyes on him each season with a new development of his aesthetic. This season saw yet more ballgowns with endless drama per look. He is definitely keeping the buyers interest on a global stage.

CHALAYAN

LIFE ON THE DANCE FLOOR…Hussein gave us himself as a pop star, singing to his collection with beats from the legendary producer Mark Moore. It was fantastic to show his ultra modern shapes to a beat that makes us move. An absolutely brilliant collection- both super saleable, and totally modern.

BURBERRY

LIFE IN A PLAID WORLD… Riccardo Tisci has pulled it all up a notch to show how diverse he can be with the Burberry plaid print. Constantly reinventing the traditional plaid for a more sexy global consumer, and with a more high octane level of presentation. I forgot I was in london for a minute because he always manages to bring in his Parisian approach to the show and the luxe level this brand name truly deserves.

PREEN

LIFE  IS BEAUTIFUL IN GOLD… The golden ladies were endlessly coming down the catwalk like soldiers of love. Each look pushed forward with gold lying underneath everything— it was so beautiful to see the strength and softness of women.

MOLLY GODDARD

LIFE IN A PUFF… a GREAT ... GREAT... GREAT show — there’s never enough puff in our life. Dresses and knitwear that can be worn from am to pm in an array of gorgeous colours.

ASHISH

LIFE AT THE DISCO. LOVEDDDDDD this collection… Ashish is back with a vengeance to show his amazing skills as a textile designer to the highest level. This collection, across the board was an extension of his talent. He took us through the 1950s, 60, and 70s — a world of excitement in every piece. This is definitely a reason for the buyers to run to London.
