Safeguarding Policy

The purpose of this policy is to protect people, especially children and at-risk adults, from any harm that may be caused due to their coming into contact with Fashion Roundtable’s staff, or our work and projects.

What is Safeguarding?

Fashion Roundtable understands ‘safeguarding’ to mean taking all reasonable steps to prevent harm that arises from coming into contact with our staff or our work. Safeguarding includes taking steps to protect people, especially children and adults at risk, from that harm by responding appropriately when harm does occur.

In this policy Fashion Roundtable regards children and at-risk adults as:

  • Children under the age of 18, irrespective of the age of adulthood in the country where they live;

  • Persons over the age of 18 who, for any reason due to age, gender, ethnicity, religion, physical, mental or other disability, social, civic or health status, sexual orientation, gender identity, economic disadvantages, indigenous status, or migration status, may be more likely to be adversely affected by a Fashion Roundtable project, or may be unable to protect themselves from significant harm of exploitation.

Scope

This policy applies to all Fashion Roundtable staff and associated personnel whilst engaged with our work, including, but not limited to: consultants, contractors, associates, parliamentarians, the Government, board of directors and advisory bodies and committees, unless explicitly exempted.

Policy Statement

Fashion Roundtable is committed to preventing harm to people that come into contact with our staff and our work, especially children and adults at risk, and operates a zero tolerance approach in relation to any form of harm within our working environment.

Fashion Roundtable staff and associated personnel are obligated to report any and all concerns regarding safeguarding violations within the Fashion Roundtable working environment to the appropriate staff member.

It is essential that confidentiality be maintained at all stages of the process when dealing with safeguarding concerns. Information relating to the concern and subsequent case management should be shared on a need to know basis only, and should be kept secure at all times. Fashion Roundtable commits to report any violations of local laws to the relevant authorities.
