We will be showcasing The Great British Wool Revival and the incredible role that it plays in re-mapping a broken system from farmer to designer in the UK, encouraging income generation for farmers and pushing best-practice. During this outstanding regenerative showcase we will be exploring local roots and global impact, aligning with the Shoreditch Works long-standing ethos. We will also have a British wool and regenerative display, highlighting our work in knitted textiles and its role as proof of concept for other natural fibres.

URBAN HARVEST is the regenerative design exhibition showcase and programme for LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL 2025, tracing the story of place, materiality, community, craft and local production, showcasing the career pathways and design journeys of local and globally renowned makers and local regenerative design studios.

In collaboration with the Shoreditch Design Triangle, Crafts Council, The Sustainable Angle, RAEBURN, Katy Mason Studio, Cassie Quinn, Brodie Neill, Ella Doran x Well Crafted, Open Desk, British Pasture Leather, Green Lab, Travel Things Museum, Daniel Heath Studio and ING Media.

Come and see Harriet, our Textiles Researcher who is speaking on Panel 1 - Understanding Wool - From Heritage to Global Supply Chains at 11am. She will delve into the history of our work and analyse the wool journey across the value chain from history to the modern day.

This discussion traces wool’s journey through land, people, and place - examining its cultural significance and everyday value in both the UK and India. Speakers share grounded insights from across the value chain, from farming and herding to processing and trade, revealing how wool intersects with heritage, labour, and livelihood. The session reflects on shared challenges such as the decline of intergenerational knowledge and limited access to markets, while asking: how might we reimagine wool’s place in more local, connected, and resilient futures?

Interwoven: Wool Across Borders will bring together artisans, researchers, designers, and wool experts to examine how wool can support ecological and cultural resilience, decentralised textile systems, and offer a regenerative alternative to synthetic-dominated value chains. From ancestral herding practices on the brink of extinction to future-facing circular economies, the symposium offers tactile engagement, cross-cultural dialogue, and visionary perspectives on how we can rebuild the value of wool across cultures, generations and sectors.

Come and see us on Sunday 12th October where we will have a presentation, physical display and Q&A opportunity, debating the future of British wool in the fashion and craft industries!

As Textiles Researcher for Fashion Roundtable, Harriet was a lead researcher on the project The Great British Wool Revival, which was supported by The King’s Foundation’s Modern Artisan Programme. She will share insights into how the project re-mapped a broken system from farmer to designer making British wool, natural dyes and best practice more accessible in the UK, whilst supporting income generation for farmers allowing this fibre to once again thrive. She will also discuss the current British wool landscape before opening up to the audience for a Q&A session.

We look forward to seeing you all there!
