Support refugees with employment
DWP works with employers and partners to support refugees with employment opportunities and they welcome your support. This includes working alongside the Refugee Employment Network to offer employment opportunities and training.  The Government is taking a range of actions to support Ukraine, including immediate help for refugees, and they are working at pace alongside other government departments and organisations to put in place support for Ukrainian refugees to welcome them, and help them move forward.    They will be in touch with you, and other employers, to discuss providing job opportunities soon. In the meantime, we encourage you to contact one of their partners - the Refugee Employment Network (REN) hello@refugeeemploymentnetwork.co.uk – to discuss the employment opportunities you may be able to provide.

Meet the workforce of the future
Webinar 5th April: How to invest in the future engineering and manufacturing workforce

This webinar looks at how industry placements can contribute to real projects and initiatives taking place in engineering and manufacturing workplaces. As an employer, you can bring valuable insight into a student’s planned engineering and manufacturing future education and their occupation. And that can have lasting benefits for your business.

Join the Department for Education and SDN for information and practical support to aid your understanding of hosting industry placements. Taking place on Tuesday 5 April – 2pm-3pm, you’ll hear from organisations who have successfully hosted industry placements in your industry.

You’ll leave with a clear understanding of the process and the next steps you can take:

  • How industry placements work in the engineering and manufacturing sector

  • What industry placements are and how they contribute to T level qualifications

  • The benefits they bring to the business

  • How placements can work alongside apprenticeships and work experience

  • How other employers have already hosted placements

  • How to start and follow the process
