In honour of the late Dame Vivienne Westwood, The Vivienne Foundation launched last week. Since the start of her career in the 1970's, Vivienne has been renowned not only for her eponymous label, but also in utilising her platform for activism. The Vivienne Foundation exists to honour, protect and continue the legacy of Vivienne's creativity and activism.

The Foundation is built upon Vivienne's four pillar approach to save the world – halt climate change, stop war, defend human rights and protect capitalism. The purpose being to raise awareness and fundraise for NGO's aligned with their mission to create a better society and halt climate change.

Their first campaign, 'Stop War', has seen the Foundation partner with three NGO's — CAAT, War Child and Refugee Council — to raise awareness and fundraise for tangible results in an effort to Stop War and alleviate the suffering caused by it. The campaign utilises Vivienne's platform to raise awareness on both the impacts of war and government's complicity in associated human rights abuses.

Charities and NGOs can save lives; however, we cannot achieve systemic change without government cooperation. The only way we can save ourselves is with government help and our strategy must be put into law.
