The Sector Is Crying Out For A Stabilisation Of Orders

Last week we delivered our open letter calling on Andy Burnham for a meeting to look at UK-made public procurement.

Tamara Cincik: “It’s very clear that the sector is crying out for a stabilisation of orders, and we’ve identified this is the lever that could support UK manufacturing at pace with greater order numbers, real stabilisation, and their support across the whole of UK wider manufacturing.”

We’ve also asked for a textile task force, because right now the sector is fragmented across departments with no unifying body. A more sectoral approach, not a departmental one, would let experts like Tamara drive real change.

It was also, in Tamara’s words, “a wonderful experience, a testament really to British democracy,” being able to walk into the centre of government and share our findings directly.
