Guests were welcomed with drinks from Gusbourne, and chocolates handmade for the event that day by AME’, followed by welcome remarks from Tamara Cincik, CEO of Fashion Roundtable, and Jason Gerrard, Managing Director of Gieves & Hawkes. Attendees included Catherine Fookes, MP for Monmouthshire, Sylvie Freund Pickavance of The Bicester Collection, Simon Burstein, of Leathersmith of London, Brontë Crouch of JW Anderson, Eva Omaghomi CVO Founder or Forster Jones & Associates Ltd, Kemi Davies, of KOKO & KOKO Studios, Rupert Turnbull, CEO of Future Forum, Daniel McAuliffe of The King’s Foundation, Isabel Ettedgui, CEO of Connolly, Rae Weaver of Heritage Crafts, Benedict Lamb, Founder of Benedict Lamb, Stephen Gillen, Actor and media personality, Executive Producer & Author, Rosie Gaunt of Manolo Blahnik, Teresa Probert, Owner of Isle of Auskerry, Maria Grachvogel, British Fashion Designer, Kate Hills, Founder of Make it British, Rebeca Riofio, Director of the Parliamentary Society, Elizabeth Diaferia of UKRI, and other leaders from across fashion, tailoring, education, policy and media.

The showcase highlighted British wool as a natural, renewable and biodegradable fibre at a time when the industry is navigating new product responsibility legislation, including the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and Digital Product Passports (DPPs), alongside growing consumer demand for products with a clear story of provenance, craft and regeneration.

Jason Gerrard, Managing Director of Gieves & Hawkes, said:

“Gieves and Hawkes were delighted to have hosted the Wool Month Fashion Roundtable event and our thanks to Tamara for compering the evening so well. To have been able to host an amazing group of people from such diverse areas of the industry who were all united in the stoic belief of both British craft and promoting the British wool industry was quite humbling. It was clear that there is a real passion and commitment to the future growth of this specific industry sector of which Gieves will continue to support.”

Joshua Scacheri, Design Director, Managing Director of Gieves & Hawkes, said:

“What drives me as a designer is the connection between raw materials and a finished product, we forget at times that without the landscapes of this great country and the animals that provide us with wool I wouldn't be able to do what I do.”

“Designing collections with provenance in the forefront of my mind is essential to the longevity of our wool industry and the people who work in the industry.”

“Story telling starts with the raw materials used to create our beautiful collections.”

“The story telling of how things are made is just as important as why they were made.”

Tamara Cincik FRSA, Founder and CEO of Fashion Roundtable, said:

“Savile Row is the beating heart of British heritage, menswear and so to showcase The Great British Wool Revival at 1 Savile Row with Gieves and Hawkes, brought together place and provenance as intrinsic to the exciting future of British textiles, talent and fashion. I feel passionately that true luxury is embedded in natural fibres and what better way to showcase these, than bringing The Great British Wool Revival to the iconic home of British dandies, the birthplace of the suit, Savile Row.

”The evening also marked the progress of Fashion Roundtable’s ongoing initiatives, including The Great British Wool Revival, which continues to champion British wool, support rural economies and reconnect consumers with the value of natural fibres. Fashion Roundtable looks forward to hosting the second Great British Wool Revival Summit, building on the success of its first year at Dumfries House, Headquarters of The King’s Foundation.
